OBITUARY: Regina F. Hopkins

Regina Frances (Grant) Hopkins, 92, a lifelong Concord resident, died Thursday October 3, 2013 in Bedford. She was the beloved wife of 47 years of the late Thomas F. Hopkins.

Born in Concord on July 27, 1921 she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Anelons) Grant. She attended Concord schools and was a 1939 graduate of Concord High School.

Mrs. Hopkins served in the United States Coast Guard from 1943 until 1946 during World War II.

She was avid gardener and also enjoyed quilting.

In 2004, she served as Parade Marshal during the Town of Concord Memorial Day and Veterans Day celebrations.

In recognition of her military service, Mrs. Hopkins name is inscribed on the Women in Military Service for America Memorial located in Washington, D.C. and Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Monday October 7th.                

She was the mother of Kathleen H. Mudgett of Ossipee, NH, John T. Hopkins and his wife Catherine C. of Alexandria, VA, William M. Hopkins of Concord and Regina H. Buckley and her husband Daniel J. of Acton, and mother-in-law of the late David I. Mudgett and grandmother of the late Heather M. Mudgett. She is survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John A. Grant, U.S. Army Air Corps, killed in action during WW II. and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday Oct 6th from 4 to 8 pm.

Funeral will be held Monday October 7th from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford St., CONCORD CENTER at 9 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 10 am.

Interment with military honors will follow in the family burial plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.

In lieu of flowers, contribution's in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 (www.alz.org) or to the charity of one's choice.
