Richard J. Luppold, of Concord, MA on September 10, 2013. A lifelong resident of Concord, Richard graduated from Concord-Carlisle High School and attended Nasson College in Springvale, Maine. He worked for Arkwright Insurance Company for 10 years and then worked at the MBTA until his retirement in 2005.
Rich will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his intelligence, and his love of family. He maintained his childhood hobby of Lionel trains throughout his life, and he spent many hours of his retirement restoring and repairing Lionel trains for train enthusiasts throughout the country.
Richard is survived by his three brothers, David Luppold and his wife Christine of Concord, MA; Jonathan Luppold and his wife Denise of Maynard, MA; Jay Luppold and his wife Deborah of Concord, NH.; his four sisters, Martha Luppold of Port Chester, NY; Priscilla and Robert Marquis of Concord, MA; Leslie Luppold and Albert Magurn of Concord, MA; and Linda and Yoram Samets of Burlington, VT; and his sister-in-law, Carole Smith of Portland, Oregon. Richard is also brother of the late Deborah Luppold of Portland, Oregon.
Richard is also survived by his nieces and nephews Karn and Jeff Junkins-Smith and their children of Seattle, WA; Daniel and Jana Junkins of Boston, MA; Theodore and Margo Junkins and their children of Rye, NY; Robert and Ellen Marquis and their children of Wayne, PA; David and Ann Marquis and their children of Dayton, OH; Jennifer Marquis and John Hannen of Leicester, MA; Alexandra Samets of Holyoke, MA and Theodore Samets of New York, NY; Alyssa and Christian Erhartic of Chelmsford, MA; Leslie Luppold of Concord, MA; Ashley Luppold and Jeff Osgood of Lancaster, MA; Mackenzie Luppold of Maynard, MA; and Matthew and Sophie Luppold of Concord, NH.
A private memorial service will be held at Dee Funeral Home in Concord.
