Five Things: Nutcracker Fun, Rubber Bridge, Meetings and More

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on Dec. 18 in Concord.

1. Nutcracker Fun at Barefoot Books: At 3:30 p.m. today at Barefoot Books, there will be a reading of the story of the Nutcracker, a dance demonstration and lesson on  how to dance your way through the holidays with a few simple steps. For children ages 2-and-a-half and older, and costumes are encouraged.

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include Trails Committee at 8 a.m., the Historical Commission at 8:45 a.m., the Conservation Restriction Stewardship Committee at 3 p.m., the Planning Board at 7 p.m., the Board of Health at 7 p.m. and the Hanscom Field Advisory Commission (HFAC) at 7 p.m.

3. Bridge at Harvey Wheeler: There's rubber bridge at 1 p.m. this afternoon at the Harvey Wheelery Community Center in West Concord.

5. Rainy and Warm: More showers in the forcast for today, as highs climb into the mid-50s, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts rain overnight as temps drop down into the mid-30s.
