African Food and Peace Foundation Family Fun Event
The African Food and Peace Foundation (AFPF) invites children ages 10
years and up, along with parents, to join us for ice cream at Reasons to be Cheerful in Concord. Catherine Namwezi, an inspiring young leader
from rural Uganda will tell her personal story of how she raised her
family and her village.
Catherine Namwezi, from Kibaale District, Western Uganda, studied at
Uganda Rural Development and Training Programme's (URDT) Girls' School
for seven and a half years. She worked with her family on a common
vision to uplift their household with income generating projects, and
became a respected and valuable resource in her community.
She went on to become the first ever scholarship student at the
International School of Uganda, where she graduated secondary school in
June 2013. She is now on a full tuition scholarship to Hope College in
Michigan, where she is studying for her Bachelors Degree.
“URDT Girls School nurtured me from a very young age to believe that I
could be the change I wanted to see in my own community, and that girls
could do it too"- Catherine Namwezi
