Al Filipov Peace and Justice Forum

Margaret Regan will receive the Al Filipov Peace &
Justice Award on Saturday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m. at Trinitarian
Congregational Church in Concord. Ms. Regan is being honored for her work
reporting on the deaths of migrants along the U.S.-Mexico border. Her talk is
entitled “Deaths in the Desert: The Unseen Humanitarian Crisis in the
Immigration Debate.” Her 2010 book, “The Death of Josseline: Immigration
Stories from the Arizona Borderlands,” was named a Southwest Book of the Year
and a Common Read for the national Unitarian Universalist Church. The Al Filipov Peace and Justice Forum promotes
peace and justice and is held each year in memory of Mr. Filipov who was
tragically killed on 9/11/2001 and lived in Concord.
