Author Talk By Louisa May Alcott's Cousin
Author Talk By Louisa May Alcott's Cousin
On Sunday, December 8th at 3:00 p.m., Eve
LaPlante, who is a cousin of Louisa May Alcott and a great
niece of Louisa's mother, Abigail May Alcott, will talk about her latest
books, Marmee & Louisa: The Untold Story of
Louisa May Alcott and Her Mother and My Heart Is Boundless: Writings of Abigail May Alcott, Louisa’s Mother.
In the book about Louisa May and her mother - a groundbreaking work - LaPlante paints an exquisitely moving, utterly
convincing portrait of a woman decades ahead of her time, and the fiercely
independent daughter whose life was deeply entwined with her mother’s dreams of
freedom. Based on newly uncovered papers, this moving
portrait of Louisa May Alcott’s relationship with her mother will transform
your view of one of America’s
most beloved authors. The companion book of writings of Abigail is a
compilation of letters and brings the reader to a new understanding of the
extreme dedication that Abigail had to educate herself under very difficult circumstances
and to urge her daughters to strive for high achievement. A reception and book
signing will follow the author’s talk during which time Orchard House will
offer books for sale. There is no charge for this event and reservations are
not necessary. The event will take place in the Parish Hall of First Parish in Concord, 20 Lexington Road, Concord which is wheelchair accessible.
Telephone number: 978-369-9602.
