Spring is here and the League of Women Voters' House Tour - "What's New!" - is just around the corner on Saturday, April 6, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Concord-Carlisle League invites the public to tour seven unique Concord homes that highlight new concepts in energy efficiency, accessibility and design.
House tour participants will chart their own course among the featured Concord residences, enjoying displays about green technologies for heating, lighting and more, and experiencing the beautiful and innovative designs that distinguish these homes. The tour will start at 10:00 a.m. on April 6 with distribution of the tour map and guidebook outside the Alcott School, 93 Laurel Street, Concord, until 12:00 noon.
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the tour. Tickets may be purchased online. Tickets may also be reserved by mail; send a check to LWVCC House Tour, P.O. Box 34, Concord, MA 01742, naming the person who will pick up the tickets on April 6 and a contact phone or email.

Past League of Women Voters house tours have drawn participants from throughout Eastern Massachusetts. The tours have explored rooms designed for special interests and activities (“A Room of One’s Own” in 2004), family rooms and other gathering areas (“A Room of Our Own: Spaces that Bring Family and Friends Together” in 2006) and creative approaches to expanding, downsizing and updating (“Room for Us: Adapting Spaces to Your Needs” in 2009).
The League’s 2013 House Tour is open to the public, providing a memorable day for those curious about architecture, interior design and the beautiful Concord area, as well as new technologies for sustainable living. Participants will gain innovative ideas to enhance their own homes.
All House Tour proceeds benefit the League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle, a grassroots organization that encourages citizen participation in government through candidate forums, voter registration drives and informational meetings. “As the League’s only fundraising event, the House Tour plays an important role in maintaining these free community services,” according to LWVCC co-president Paula Vandever.
