Thursday, February 28, 5:30 p.m.
Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Burlington
Alumni Auditorium, 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA
Team Diane, a team established in 2010 in honor of former Lahey Hospital & Medical Center colleague Diane Geehan who battled lung cancer, is once again running the Boston Marathon. In support of this year's runners, the Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation Department is hosting a free Healthy Running Forum to share the latest information on the health benefits of running, sports nutrition and training tips to help keep you injury free.
Join us for a presentation by Holly Williams, MS, RD, LND, distance runner and two-time marathoner, who will talk about major nutrients needed for distance running-protein, carbohydrates and fat-as well as the secrets to maintaining adequate hydration. Additionally, Holly will discuss how to eat prior to training, during training and post work-out. She will also cover strategies to avoid and manage runner's colitis, cramping and other common gastrointestinal ailments.
Attendees will need to pay for garage parking. For further information to register, please e-mail Deborah.Sullivan@Lahey.org
