Everyday Etiquette Workshop for Children 7-11
On Sunday, October 20, Dabblershobbies + café in West Concord will hold a social-skills workshop for children.
Children will learn how to treat others with consideration and confidence in
their everyday life. They will also come to understand the role courtesy plays
in being responsible members of society.
First impression and etiquette expert Janet L Parnes, a graduate
of the Protocol School of Washington®, will
use stories, rhymes, role-play, and intriguing historical trivia to teach the
following topics:
- Responsible dining : when to be seated/start eating, the table
setting, napkin and silverware handling, cutting technique, passing
plates, sneezing coughing; restaurant
etiquette; drops/spills; receiving- line etiquette (including the way to introduce
yourself ); how to host a friend at dinner; how to be a considerate dinner
guest
- The responsible host: greeting your guest, introducing to the family;
negotiating differences of opinion; sharing with you guest; how to handle
your guest’s faux pas; obeying family rules; handling siblings kindly, showing
appreciation; saying good-bye - The responsible guest: responding to an invitation; greeting your host/ the family;
negotiating differences of opinion; respecting family possessions and
rules; how to handle a faux pas such as a breakage; taking responsibility
for your own good time (at a party); picking up after yourself; showing
appreciation; saying good bye to host and parents
The workshop will include a snack and workbook for each
child. Class size is limited to 12 students, so that each child can receive
individual attention and support. Everyday Etiquette for Children for ages 7-11 will run from 1:00-3:00 pm on Sunday, October 20. The price will be $59 per child. To enroll children, please visit dabblersconcord.com
