Lessons & Carols at Trinity Episcopal Church

Trinity's annual service of Lessons and Carols takes place at 5 PM on Saturday, January 4 in the main sanctuary at 81 Elm Street in Concord.  Traditionally, the celebration of Christmas lasts for 12 days, and in many places, January 6, The Epiphany, is known as Little Christmas and is almost more important than December 25. Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord continues the celebration of the Christmas Season with a traditional service of Lessons and Carols, as it has been done at King’s College in Cambridge, England since 1911.

All in the greater Concord community are invited to attend.  This service retells the Christmas Story through nine scriptural lessons alternating with beloved carols for the congregation to sing.   These lessons are read by members of the choir and staff, youngest to oldest.  Trinity's Parish, Youth, and Junior Choirs (Robert Barney, organist and music director) will sing Bach O Jesulein Süss; Britten A boy was born; Rutter There is a flower and Vaughan Williams' On Christmas Night.  The choirs will also sing a Polish carol arranged by Willcocks, a Southern Harmony arrangement by Barney, and works by Mather and Adam.
