Maynard Farmers' Mkt: Pie Contest Entry Deadline, Apple Tasting & More

Do you bake a great apple pie? Sat. 8/31 is the deadline to register for the  Sept 7 apple pie contest. Entry
forms are available at the community tables or email Anne at
hyperedge05@yahoo.com. Happening at the 8/31 Market: Apple-tasting event

sample some of the early-season apple varieties and learn which are
considered the best for eating, cooking, and baking;  kids can use field microscopes to explore pond life with John
and do a craft activity with Aimee of Red Shoe Arts; The
Maynard Girls Scouts, Friends of Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge
and the Sudbury Valley Trustees will be at the Community
Tables; and musical entertainment will be provided by The Groove Gang
and Vira
DeFilippo.  In addition to the weekly vendors, the Boston
Shuckin Truck, which serves lobster rolls, scallop rolls, clam strip
rolls and fish tacos will attend.
Seafood prepared on Shuckin Trucks comes directly from local fishermen in
the Pt. Judith, Rhode Island area.  For the
