Thoreau and the Language of Trees

On Tuesday, January 28th, from 7:30-9:00pm, there will be a multimedia presentation by Richard Higgins on "Thoreau and the Language of Trees," sponsored by the Transcendentalism Council of First Parish in Concord, The Thoreau Society, and the Walden Woods Project.

Higgins pairs images of trees with Thoreau’s words to illustrate the naturalist's vision of trees. Images include Higgins' own photographs, as well as Thoreau’s sketches, and images by the great landscape photographer Herbert Wendell Gleason, who documented Thoreau’s Concord.

A Concord resident, Higgins is a writer and editor who has explored Thoreau and trees in depth. He was a writer at The Boston Globe for 25 years, is the co-author of Portfolio Life and the editor of four books, including Taking Faith Seriously.

A $10 donation is requested. For information, see fptranscendentalism.org or call 978-369-9602.
