The exciting online auction for Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ) has begun!  Bid for Justice on a wonderful wealth of items from the comfort of your own home or office! Auction items include vacation properties; tickets to Red Sox games and the Boston Symphony Orchestra; Sunday brunch at the Harvard Faculty Club; numerous ways to pamper oneself; an architectural consultation; a week of dog kenneling; golf for four at the Concord Country Club; rides to school in police cruisers; and much, much more.

This fundraiser for C4RJ has closes on June 3.  To access the auction, see the items, and register to bid, go to http://www.biddingforgood.com/c4rj

C4RJ, a volunteer-driven non-profit, is funded by grants, donations and modest offender participation fees.  It was begun in the late 1990s by two foresighted Concord women, Jean Bell and Joan Turner, and has caught on like wildfire, spreading to 12 other nearby towns in the last few years. Concord was joined by Carlisle early on. Since then Acton, Arlington, Ayer, Bedford, Boxborough, Cambridge, Everett, Groton, Littleton, Stow and Wellesley have signed on. C4RJ’s protocol is to partner with local police to bring an offender, a victim as well as other affected community members together in a group setting, not in a courtroom. What distinguishes restorative justice is the fact it recognizes that crime is a violation of people and relationships, not just the law. To read more about C4RJ, go to www.c4rj.com
