OARS Earns Grant Funding for Rivers Around Concord
OARS earned a boost from the Foundation for MetroWest.
OARS, the nonprofit dedicated to protecting and preserving the Assabet, Sudbury, and Concord rivers and their watershed areas, has reportedly received a boost from a regional grant.
The Foundation for MetroWest last week announced its award of $228,000 in grants to organizations in communities west of Boston, according to the Globe.
The 2013 distributions reportedly supported three key service areas: Arts and culture, environment, and family support. OARS fell into the environment category.

“During this time of unprecedented financial need, Foundation for MetroWest is proud to support organizations throughout the region,” said Judith Salerno, the foundation's executive director, in the report on Boston.com. “By distributing these much needed funds, we are doing our part to ensure that the MetroWest region remains vital and strong.”
According to its website, environmental funds supplied by the Foundation for MetroWest "support local groups that are making a difference in our region, whether that is by removing invasive aquatic weeds, maintaining trails, developing community education programs, or engaging in a variety of other projects that help protect and preserve our local environment."
