Accomplished Writer to Speak at Library

Nancy Slonim Aronie is the special guest of this week's Thursday Author Series.

Good Morning and welcome to another lovely Tuesday.

Calling out to all writers, aspiring, published and everyone in between. This Thursday, Nancy Slonim Aronie, an accomplished writer and a commentator for 10 years for NPR, is the special guest of the Thursday Author Series.

Nancy, who you may have seen around town or at her home on the Vineyard, served for a time as the writer in residence at Trinity College in Hartford, and the artist in residence for the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Perhaps you’ve seen her perform stand-up or on stage as a performer. Nancy is the founder of the Chilmark Writing Workshop, where she mentored such writers as Wally Lamb, (She’s Come Undone.) In 1997, Nancy published her own book “Writing from the Heart, Tapping the Power of Your Inner Voice.”

It is from this book that she will speak Thursday night and guide the writer in all of us. I have a copy of “Writing from the Heart,” and have completed some of the exercises. This work is equally inspiring and encouraging, and must-have for anyone who wants to write seriously or simply for pleasure. Nancy pours a lot of herself into her work, and we can expect nothing less when she appears in the Periodical Room of the Main Library, Thursday May 3 at 7:30 p.m. Nancy is looking forward to speaking with the audience about all the writer’s block, self confidence and the hard work it may take to get an idea from your head to a page. She has an incredible sense of humor and a amazing stage presence, so even if you’re not much into writing, you will thoroughly enjoy yourself.

There is no charge, as Nancy’s appearance is a gift from the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.

That’s it for now, so I plan to see you Thursday night at the Thursday Author Series. …

Don’t forget Stefanie’s column on Thursday!

‘til Tuesday!
