Holiday Spirit Shines at Concord Tree Lighting

It's Christmastime in the suburbs.

The weather outside was frightful, but the time was still delightful Sunday night at Concord’s annual holiday parade and tree lighting.

A light rain -- mixed with a splash of holiday spirit -- fell Dec. 1 in downtown Concord as Santa rode inside the fire truck into Monument Square, where St. Nick led the annual tree-lighting ceremony before a crowd of a couple hundred.

Weather aside, it was a familiar scene that welcomed the Christmas season to Concord.

Dunkin’ Donuts mascots danced in the street as local groups and Girl Scout troops marched down a cordoned-off Main Street and Mrs. Claus and Frosty waved to the crowd from their convertible.
