Concord's Social Media Saturday: Reader Highlights

While much of this week's focus has been on the Concord Carlisle Patriot's Superbowl run, there was still a lot going on in and around Concord. From getting into the holiday spirit to reflecting on the almost-complete year, here's a quick peek at some of the topics Patch readers have been talking about this past week.

• On Tuesday, Kristin Johnson alerted us via Facebook of a "Bad accident on 62 and Harrington Rd." We checked with the Concord Fire Department and learned the accident wasn't too severe. But thank you, Kristin, for keeping us on our toes.

• In this week's , Stephanie Haddad gave some tips about managing the flow of presents into homes with young children. On Facebook, Hilary Taylor said, "Remember to shop the small local stores that are less crowded and give you personal assistance. Dabblers in W Concord, Toy Shop of Concord, Learning Express, Book Shop of Concord, Willow Books... so many to choose from, happy shopping Independent Businesses." On Patch, Valerie Tratnyek said, "My children are way beyond toddlerhood, but I remember clearly searching for creative toys, and ones without electronics. Specifically, we got many hours of play time from Legos (Duplo for young children) and Brio wooden tracks and Thomas the tank engines. I've noticed that the Lego company has also expanded the Duplo section with more girl-friendly subjects."

• On Monday, our asked your opinions on the best florists in town. Deorah Bier posted the first comment, saying, " on Comm Ave in West Concord, of course! Hope local, shop indie!" • On Friday, Janet Beyer shared her . Jane Z said, "A touching article. I love the line "Nothing reminds me of change more than teenagers."

• Leading into this morning's Superbowl, Patch featured a couple preview articles, including . Mary Moreau, class of 1947, said, "That was a great article. I went to school with Val Muscato and they were great days at Concord High School. I was a cheerleader during some of those years. Eddie Dee was my cousin."
