Dogs and Owners Find a Common Social Life

What are you doing tomorrow morning? Stop by the Concord Pug and Small Dog Group.

Love your dog? Who doesn’t? They were made to be loved. I am a cat person, myself, but love to watch dogs and their owners enjoying each other.

If your dog is a small one, you can not only enjoy your dog but also meet others who have similar breeds and passion every Sunday morning, year ‘round at the corner of Everett and Stow streets on , at 9 a.m. The entrance to the field is protected with a small gate, so the dogs cannot go onto the street.

The group started two years ago and is on line at www.meetup.com, as the Concord Pug and Small Dog Meetup Group.

The group is for the pug and small dog owners in the Concord area. People come from Acton, Sudbury, Bedford, Carlisle, Lexington, Lincoln and other area towns. No need to sign up, just show up.

The dog owners have scoops and baggies so the dogs are welcome anywhere.

If you are looking for a place where your dog can run free and splash in fresh water ponds, Debra Block recommends the cranberry bog off Curve Street, Carlisle. She and her black lab Tyson walk there. There is, she said, a path around the bog the shape of a track of almost half a mile with water at the two ends where dogs can swim. There are also trails through the surrounding conservation land, with more water views.

Joggers, walkers, horses, and dogs enjoy each other’s company. Click here for more information.
