Our School Superintendent
It is my conviction that as long as Ms. Rigby is Superintendent of Schools in Concord there will be pockets of unhappiness and friction. She simply does not know how to communicate with her teachers and so they feel they are not listened to, consulted, or appreciated.
Furthermore I question her ability to hire the best people for the job, witness the sad situation at Thoreau and the eventual demise of Ms. Clough. When confronted with criticism, she says. “Thank you. I will take the matter up with my Administrative Team”. At Thoreau, instead of talking with the teachers, she hired a consultant to identify where the problem lay. She also hired a mentor to help the Principal run the school smoothly.
These were expensive items. And now we have a 2 million dollar lawsuit on our hands. Just to fight this charge will cost the system thousands of dollars. Then there were expenses involved with the poorly managed construction of the new high school and placement of buses. These dollars could be better put to use elsewhere.

How the school committee came up with an evaluation that the Concord Journal referred to as “high marks” is beyond me. I am sure she has her good points, but she has damaged this school system in a way I have never seen before, and I taught in Concord for 21 years and have two sons who attended the schools.
I hope the school committee will finally realize that it would be better if she were to move on to a position better suited to her to her talents.
