BTW, Clive, this country is the most generous in the world. Poor people in this country have t.v.s, cars, and weight problems. When the tsunami hit Indonesia, a majority Muslim country, individuals in this country donated more money to help the people affected by the tsunami than entire nations (Germany, China, France...) that means that the governments and individuals in Germany gave less money than the citizens of this country. I won't be made to feel guilty for my success in life. I earned every penny of it. I also won't be guilty of hobbling an entire population of people in this country by giving them hand-outs, enough to keep them just above water, and not expect them to learn to work for themselves so that they can get ahead in life.

@Quasimodo, Are you saying that Ray Irani and William Weldom didn't earn what they have? They aren't being paid by the tax payer. They are working in the private sector. If the work they do is worth the money they're paid then they deserve what they get. I'm a nurse. I spent 6 years in college studying to get my RN. I get paid what I've earned. If I had wanted to be a CEO or run a business like Bill Gates or Steve Jobs who made a lot more than the CEOs you list, I would have poured my life into pursuing that money. I didn't because I'm content with what I have. I also earned it and continue to earn my own way in life. What you're peddling is envy which last I looked is one of the seven deadly sins. There have been countries where historically income and quality of life were equalized. The former Soviet Union was one of them. Everyone was equally miserable, and they're still trying to recover.

P.S. communism killed more than 100,000,000 people in the last century. Why give it another try?

Unemployment falling instead of rising is good. Cutting back on the excess and waste in the military is good. Ending an unnecessary and perhaps illegal war in Iraq is good. Preventing an unnecessary and likely illegal war in Iran is good. Three years of keeping the GOP at bay from eliminating all social programs and privatizing social security is good. A president who spends far more time working than his predecessor is good (though keeping Bush away from the white house was also good). The saving of our economy from the great depression 2 is good. Fighting back against the those who would plunder our country for the enrichment of a very very few is good. A reduction in the size of the government is good.

Katy G. April 19, 2012 at 11:17 PM
@BAV. The bureau of Labor Statistics has removed the numbers of people who are no longer looking for work as well as lowering the number read as available jobs in order to make the unemployment numbers look better. A friend of mine in Ohio told me that unemployment there is at greater than 10%. This makes sense. Unemployment in the Republican run state of North Dakota is at 3.1%. The number is averaged nationally, so states like North and South Dakota and Texas make the national average look better than it is. You'll have to find a more ignorant audience.
Katy G. April 19, 2012 at 11:29 PM
@BAV. Again, your second point relies on the ignorance of the reader. President 0 has made military cut backs in the worst way. In the first two years of his presidency more than double the troops were killed in Afghanistan than during the whole Bush presidency. This is because funding for body armor and armored Humvees was cut and because of the PC ROE implemented by the liberals in this administration. Obama ignores the requests of General Allen while making unrealistic demands. My oldest son is currently serving. He said that morale is terrible. Only the competence of our field commanders and troops has held this mess together. Obama hasn't pulled us out of Afghanistan as he promised, and he doesn't have the resolve to deal with the situation. Again, he's wasting money and lives. The war in Iraq was winding down before Obama took office. He simply took credit for it. The war in Iraq was voted for by the Congress who approved it. Unlike the illegal war Obama involved us in in Libya, where we still have troops on the ground, without bothering to consult the congress. Obama has no problem acting outside of the Constitution because he has no respect for the office he holds.
Katy G. April 19, 2012 at 11:41 PM
@BAV. All of your other points make no sense. Our government has grown while the private sector has shrunk over the past three years. While our unemployemnt numbers went up the federal government has been hiring. Obama's 'stimulis' cost more than a trillion dollars, and it has failed. The unemployement rate has not gone down significantly. In more liberal states like California, the state is broke and will soon be in bankrupcy. The U.S. AAA bond rating was downgraded under Obama, after his stimulis was implemented. As for all of the entitlements that you're so concerned about. They weren't removed under Bush, they didn't disappear under Reagan, and both of those presidents managed to keep our economy growing even after 'inheriting' a disaster from their predecessors. In the case of Reagan it was the absolute mess that Carter made of the economy, with gas lines and high unemployment. Bush inherited Enron, WorldCom, and a wall between branches of law enforcement fashioned by Jamie Garrelik which led to the 9/11 attacks. In spite of all of this Bush kept the economy growing, the unemployment numbers below 5% for most of his presidency (until he became a lame duck in 2006 and Fannie Mae et al. collapsed under the management of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd), and the GDP above 5%. Our debt now exceeds our GDP thanks to Obama.

@ the good Reverend, Hitler took over the health care industry when he became chancellor, he also took over the auto industry. Obama took over GM and is trying to take over healthcare in this country. I don't think it's the citizens who can be compared to Hitler.

Simple analogy but it lies in a false assumption. You deduce that neo-conservatives are anti-"wagon rider" advocates. The truth is that neo-conservatives have ALSO contributed to the growth of "the wagon". They support endless wars and presidents who have increased the size and scope of the federal government. There is very little difference between the neo-left establishment and the neo-right establishment. We are being played....2 wings of the same big-government bird. Libertarianism is our way out.
Bud April 20, 2012 at 06:29 PM
........this "Manchurian candidate" is the epitome of a fraud? When in our history has a president spent over a million dollars to hire lawyers and law firms to suppress his background, let alone provide a GENUINE birth certificate???
Katy G. April 21, 2012 at 01:06 AM
Sam Baker of The Hill reports on April 9th, "The Obama administration is quietly diverting $500 million to the IRS to help implement the president's health-care law." It's good to know that Obama is generous with an agency as popular as the IRS. They provide health-care so well we're paying them for it. I noticed that BAV stopped posting. I guess the kitchen got too hot.

@ Kathy G. First, I certainly don't envy Ray Irani and William Weldom making dozens of $millions. This being said, my point, since I must repeat it, was that you think it's OK for these CEOs to make such an obscene amount of money, but, on the other hand, you object to President Obama making $400,000/year + some perks. You obviously haven't notice that the United States is certainly a much more important and difficult "company" to run and carries many more responsabilities than Occidental Petrolium or J&J. (Personally, I think a US president should be making much more). Then you go on complaining that you hardly have enough money to be able to visit some relative once a year, when the president can afford to take several vacations per year! Talking about envy… Second, the reason you did not become a Bill Gates or a Steve Job is simply because you didn't have the brain and the imagination, and you knew your limitations. Third and finally, what does the Soviet Union have to do in this discussion? Actually, you obviously do not know History: before the Bolshevik revolution everybody was uniformly miserable serfs, except for a small elite, the Russian 1% (if that many). After the Revolution, everybody continued to be miserable, except for a different 1% nomenklatura.
Katy G. April 24, 2012 at 02:39 AM
@Quasimodo. BTW, you could try getting my name right for a start. I wasn't complaining that as a nurse I don't make more money. I was pointing out that gentlemen like Mr. Irani and Mr. Weldom have earned what they have. Your need to point out their income appeared to be an attempt to indict them for their success. If you feel strongly that Obama isn't paid enough then you should send him all of your money. The problem with liberals is that they like to be liberal with other people's hard earned money. You're right that being commander in chief of the U.S. is one of the most important jobs in the world. That's why Obama's hideously poor job is so alarming. The Obama administration is monetizing our debt. (For someone whose understanding of history is limited, this is what Germany did after WW I). The only thing keeping the dollar afloat is that so many other currencies are pegged to it. If and when they become independent of us our money will be worthless. For this Obama should be charged, not paid, with treason. Unless he's an idiot, in which case I pity him, he's a destructive deviant. Did you think that President Bush should have been making more money than he did? If not then you're a hypocrite like all of the other liberals I know. I don't envy Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, and therefore I'm not trying to convince the general populace that they or any other successful people should be taxed more to pay for the mess Obama has made.
Katy G. April 24, 2012 at 02:58 AM
@Quasimodo. It took you a long time to think of a response. Your response required twisting what I said. Every liberal I know has to twist the facts as well as twist the words of others in order to make a point. If you're not trying to peddle envy by mentioning the incomes of two private citizens, then what are you trying to do? If you're worried that Obama isn't making enough, don't. In 2009 the Obama's combined adjusted gross income was $5,505,409. In 2010 it was $1,728,096. In 2011 it was $789,674. Like typical liberals their flunkies are hypocritically criticizing the Romneys for their wealth. What's worse is that Obama is living his lavish lifestyle on the taxpayer's dime. With greater than 9% unemployment in many parts of the country one would think that your concept of fairness would make this situation unconscionable. As for Russia, a brush up on history would inform you that everyone didn't continue to be miserable after the communists took over. So many of them instead proceeded to be dead. Stalin killed more Russians by 1933 than any Czar could ever dream of. In fact, Stalin killed more people by 1933 than Hitler ever did in his whole ugly career. But there you go peddling class envy like a communist. Obama is a Marxist. Do you think that you'll be spared if the social upheaval needed for the change he's looking for takes place?

Yes... we might end up with welfare reform, a balanced budget, a simplified tax code and fiscal responsibility, a growing economy with low unemployment the encourages entrepreneurship, respect for personal property rights, an American energy plan that makes our gas and electricity affordable and brings down food prices, mortgages that are not underwater, a DOJ that cares about justice for ALL Americans, safe borders, and term limits ... gee, so many areas need reform, have I forgotten anything?
