Bank Robber Sentenced

Former teacher gets one year for 2009 unarmed robbery.

The former New Hampshire middle school teacher charged with robbing the Walden Street branch of in December 2009, pleaded guilty last week in Middlesex County Superior Court to two counts each of unarmed robbery and larceny over $250.

Gail Rasmussen, 50, a former Brookline, N.H. resident was sentenced to one year in a Massachusetts state prison for robbery of the Concord branch of TD Bank and the Washington Savings Bank in Tyngsborough. After serving her time, the conditions of her probation require her to attend Gamblers Anonymous for three years, pay $1,854 in restitution, and stay away from the banks she robbed and any of her victims.

Rasmussen entered the TD Bank Concord branch on December 20, 2009, approaching a teller and handing her a note.  She did not show any weapon.

“It’s good to hear that justice has been served,” said Jason Neuman, manager, TD Bank Concord. “Everyone at the Concord Police Department was extremely supportive throughout their investigation and showed great concern for our safety during the days following the robbery. I am also ultimately thankful that no one on my staff was harmed.”

Rasmussen still faces additional charges related to a bank robbery in Plainfield, CT.
