Police Log: Accidents, an 'Abandoned' Moped and a Power Outage

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Aug. 5

2:50 a.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Monument and Liberty streets. A wrecker was called to the scene for the venicle, and one person was transported to Emerson Hospital.

4:53 a.m. – A call came in from the 7-Eleven in West Concord reporting an older man in the parking lot who’d been harassing customers for the past hour or so. Police checked the lot, but the man’s vehicle was no longer in the area.

2:57 p.m. – A Westford Road resident called 911 to report a black Lexus SUV smashed into her fence before leaving the scene on Lowell Road toward Carlisle. Police located the vehicle parked on Lindsay Pond Road, but its driver was not in the area. The owner, a Boxborough man, was later cited for operating a motor vehicle with his license suspended, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of property damage.

5:11 p.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Commonwealth Avenue and Laws Brook Road in West Concord.

Tuesday, Aug. 6

10:23 a.m. – Emerson Hospital security called to report vehicles parked illegally by the hospital’s entrance. The responding officer issued two parking tickets.

10:40 a.m. – A Concord man reported his Social Security number was being used by someone else. The responding officer reported it was an apparent misprint on his tax form, with no money missing or fraudulent use.

4:24 p.m. – A Ridgeway Road resident reported an abandoned silver motor shooter with no plates in the woods behind St. Bernard’s Cemetery. The responding officer reported the vehicle was secured at the base of a tree house, and did not appear to be abandoned.

5:59 p.m. – A 911 call came in reporting a handicapped parking violation at the Concord Housing Authority on Stow Street. The responding officer reported the vehicle involved did indeed have a handicapped placard.

7:36 p.m. – Police responded to Lexington Road to assist with traffic on Lexington Road following a power outage in the area.

11:35 p.m. – An alarm company called in an alarm activation at the Concord Municipal Light Plant headquarters on Elm Street. It was confirmed as accidental by an employee.
