Police Log: Barking Dogs, Drunk Drivers and a Coyote Crossing

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Sept. 1

5:07 a.m. – An officer radioed in to report checking on a man he found sleeping inside a vehicle parked on Stow Street by Everett Street. The man, who was reportedly visiting the area and decided to sleep in his car, was sent on his way.

9 a.m. – A Rhode Island woman reported finding a Border Collie mix in Narragansett, RI, with Concord tags.

10:15 a.m. – A 911 caller reported a coyote wandering in the area between Concord Park Assisted Living and the West Concord Depot. Police checked the area, but did not locate the animal.

4:44 p.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Concord Turnpike and Walden Street, A Somerville resident received a summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

5:43 p.m. – A patrol officer radioed in to advice he was checking on an open door on Baker Avenue. The building’s interior checked OK and the door was secured.

10:02 p.m. – Police responded to a general burglary alarm activation on Estabrook Road. The scene checked secure.

10:19 p.m. – A College Road resident reported a truck pulled into his neighbor’s driveway, which he did not feel should be in the area. The truck turned out to be a trash truck making pickups in the area.

11:53 p.m. – Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Monument Street and, as a result of the response, Steven Turnbull, 23, of 300 Meghann Drive, Woodstock, Va, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

Sunday, Sept. 1

12:16 a.m. – An officer radioed in to report checking on an open window at a farmstand on Wheeler Road.

4:45 a.m. – Police responded to a burglar alarm activation on Estabrook Road.

10:09 a.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop by at the Rideout Field parking lot on Conant Street, a Maynard man was summonsed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

11:20 a.m. – An Everett Street resident reported a dog was in her yard. The animal wasn’t being a nuisance, but the caller wanted to report the dog found, the police report said.

1:29 p.m. – A Lincoln woman walked into the station to report losing her white purse around 9:30 p.m. the previous evening at Main Street Market and Café. The woman called back later to report finding the purse at her home.

1:50 p.m. – Emerson Hospital security requested assistance with a parking issue in the emergency room parking lot in which vehicles were parking the ambulance access. Police found no vehicles parked illegally.

5:57 p.m. – A Buckmaster Drive resident reported smelling a strong odor of marijuana in the area. The responding officer was unable to detect any odor.

9:16 p.m. – A Main Street resident called to report a dog was outside barking in the area of Winslow Street. The responding officer reported there were no dogs barking in the area.
