Police Log: Coyote Sightings in West Concord

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Aug. 13

7:20 a.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Lexington Road at Cambridge Turnpike, a Westfield man was issued a summons for operating an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle and attaching plates.

10:27 a.m. – An employee from Concord Mobil requested assistance with a gray Mini Cooper that was parked in his lot and listed in East Boston. The vehicle checked OK and the caller decided to wait and see if the owner moved it before taking any action.

12:06 p.m. – A Concord resident reported spotting a coyote on Main Street in West Concord. Police also received a call from a Main Street resident reporting the coyote was trapped in their garage. Environmental Police were called to the scene from Billerica, and were able to determine the coyote was not, in fact, in the garage.

2:49 p.m. – A cell phone caller reported a loose coyote on Main Street by Hayes Road. Police were unable to locate the animal.

5:55 p.m. – A Maynard woman came into the station to report her vehicle was keyed while parked at the Thoreau Street depot.

8:10 p.m. – A 911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident at Elm Street and Route 2. State Police advised they were on the scene and did not need additional assistance.

11:12 p.m. – A burglary alarm activated at the Concord Town House, but the exterior of the building checked secure.
