Police Log: Domestic Disputes, Unruly Campers and People in the Pool

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Aug. 3

12:59 a.m. – An officer radioed in to report checking out the Thoreau school after locating a pocketbook near the entrance. The officer found a former student and friend using the pool, according to the incident report.

1:24 a.m. – Officers investigated a reported motor vehicle accident with a rollover on Monument Street. As a result of the accident, a Concord man was cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

7:49 a.m. – Police responded to an alarm activation on Baker Avenue Extension.

12:26 p.m. – A caller reported a dog inside a vehicle parked on Commonwealth Avenue in West Concord. The responding officer reported the rear windows and moon roof were open, and the dog did not appear to be in distress.

3:09 p.m. – A Sorrell Road resident reported a missing Black Lab.

6:35 p.m. – A Carlisle woman requested a welfare check on a young woman walking on Lowell Road by the Middlesex School. Police contacted the walking woman, who said she was fine.

7:04 p.m. – An Arlington woman reported losing her purse while at Millbrook Farms in Concord earlier in the day. Police spoke with the business owner, who reported they searched the area and were unable to locate a purse there.

11:17 p.m. – Police responded to a report of people in a tent in Cousins Park off Brown Street, causing a disturbance in the area. The responding officer located two youths in a tent in the field. Police spoke with the kids’ parents, and the campers moved their tent into their backyard.

Sunday, Aug. 4

10:04 a.m. – An Elsinore Street resident reported an iPod was taken from her car while it was parked on Thoreau Street the previous Tuesday.

11:53 a.m. – A 911 call came in from a Concord resident claiming his father punched him while they were in the area of the Concord Depot. Police later caught up with the father and son in West Concord and determined there was a disagreement over money, but no physical contact made.

12:46 p.m. – A Central Street resident called to complain about Jehovah’s Witnesses soliciting in the area. The woman said the solicitors were at the home of her neighbor, a senior citizen, and she was “uncomfortable with them speaking to him.”

1:49 p.m. – Police responded to a report of someone yelling “Get away from me” in the area of Virginia Road, by the Thoreau Birthplace. The responding officer reported speaking with a couple who said they were having a verbal disagreement.

7:53 p.m. – A 911 call came in reporting a man and woman fighting in the parking lot at Emerson Hospital. The responding officer reported the argument was verbal only.

10:55 p.m. – A 911 call came in from Barrett’s Mill Road reporting a teenaged son was not allowing his mother to leave the home. As a result, a teen was arrested for simple assault and battery.
