Police Log: Erratic Operators, Burglary Alarms and a Suspicious Musician

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Aug. 20

6:53 a.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop on Lexington Road, a Leominster man was summonsed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked license and no inspection sticker.

11:30 a.m. – An officer radioed in to report a disabled motor vehicle on Route 2 east, near Sudbury Road.

11:56 a.m. – An officer checked on a person walking along Walden Street and carrying a suspicious package. The person turned out to be a Concord man carrying a musical instrument.

12:07 p.m. – A passerby reported a tractor-trailer unit trying to turn around at the South Bridge Boat House on Main Street. A car was dispatched, but the rig was gone on arrival.

12:19 p.m. – A Hill Street resident reported some items were taken from their vehicle sometime overnight on Aug. 16.

1:11 p.m. – Lexington Alarm reported a burglary alarm activation on Simon Willard Road. The building checked OK.

3:02 p.m. – American Alarm reported a burglary alarm on Westford Road. The responding officer spoke with the son of the homeowner, who reported he set it off accidentally and could not reset.

3:05 p.m. – Police responded to a reported hit-and-run accident at Emerson Hospital’s temporary parking area on Old Road to Nine Acre Corner.

5:53 p.m. – A Concord man walked into the station to report a possible scam in which he sent money after being informed he won the Jamaican Lottery.

6:08 p.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 2 west and Elm Street, A Gardner man received a summons for operating an uninsured, unregistered motor vehicle that did not meet the RMV’s safety standards.

8:59 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a car driving erratically on Sudbury Road heading from Route 2 to Route 117.

11:13 p.m. – Lexington Alarm reported a burglar alarm at Cambridge Turnpike, which turned out to have been accidental by the homeowners.

11:40 p.m. – A 911 caller reported a vehicle crossed the double yellow lines several times while driving down Monument Street, through Concord Center and down Main Street before pulling into Walden Rehab. Police spoke to the vehicle’s driver, who checked OK.
