Police Log: Pills at the Library and Couture Copped from Concord District Court

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Sept. 19

12:11 a.m. – A Plainfield Road resident reported a power outage, and additional calls came in from Powdermill road and Shore Drive reporting the same.

7:33 a.m. – A traffic complaint came from a woman who said a gray Suzuki passed her on Thoreau Street, nearly striking a pedestrian in the crosswalk. The responding officer spoke with the Suzuki driver, who apologized after being advised fo the complaint.

9:03 a.m. – The School Transportation Department relayed a report from a passing bus driver of a disabled motor vehicle in the area of Route 2 east and Walden Street.

9:17 a.m. – Staff from the Concord Public Library reported finding seven prescription pills at the main branch and requested that an officer collect the drugs.

9:25 a.m. – A Riverside Avenue resident reported three school buses sped down the street after leaving Thoreau School earlier in the morning. Police advised the transportation department about the complaint.

9:50 a.m. – Police responded to a report of a large turtle in the roadway at College and Barrett’s Mill roads. The responding officer reported that, prior to arrival, the turtle was moved off to the side of the roadway with no further issue.

9:57 a.m. – Officers investigated a report of a motor vehicle accident in which the Council on Aging’s van backed into a vehicle on Walden Street.

11:12 a.m. – A Dedham woman walked into the station to report a past larceny from Concord District Court in which her friend/co-defendant stole her bags and their contents. According to the report, the items reported missing were a large, gray Juicy Couture bag and dark brown Louis Vitton purse.

3:32 p.m. – A walk-in and 911 caller both reported a motor vehicle blocking traffic on Walden Street near Route 2 while the operator was out of the car trying to nurse an animal that possibly had been struck down. The responding officer reported the car was gone on arrival.

4:02 p.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop on Elm Street, a Worcester man was summonsed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

 4:16 p.m. – A 911 caller from Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation on Main Street reported an item stolen from his room. After police spoke to a member of the staff, the initial caller dialed back to report finding his lost item.

7:51 p.m. – A Thoreau Street resident reported receiving a telephone call from someone with a foreign accent advising her she’d be issued a new medical card and requesting her bank account number. The responding officer reported this was suspicious activity only, and no personal information had been exchanged.

8:42 p.m. – A disabled motor vehicle was reported off the roadway across from the Concord Municipal Light Plant’s headquarters on Elm Street. After the response, police determined the vehicle had been there a while and was a previously reported disabled motor vehicle.
