Police Log: Speeding, Panhandling and Home Security Issues

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, July 1

11:25 a.m. – Police responded to an alarm activation at a Monument Street residence. The building checked secure.

1:51 p.m. – An officer radioed in to report a mens watch found on the ground near the Thoreau Depot.

4:31 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a man panhandling in the Crosby’s parking lot, soliciting for an unknown emergency involving to his pregnant wife.

4:53 p.m. – A Concord woman reported a Green Mercedes SUV almost cut her off at the intersection of Barretts Mill and Lowell road, and then passed her after they were on Barretts Mill Road.

6:52 p.m. – A Nashawtuc Road resident reported the newspaper, mail and an alarm sign missing from her property. The resident called back and said she now felt the mail was not taken.

9:42 p.m. – State Police Concord requested assistance with traffic control around the rotary due to a downed wire across Route 2 east in Acton.

Tuesday, July 2

1:27 a.m. – A 911 caller reported people in a motor vehicle talking in the Keyes Road municipal lot.

2:45 a.m. – A 911 caller reported hearing numerous gunshots in the area, as well as voices and footsteps in the street. The responding officer reported finding possible fireworks remnants in the area of Central and West streets.

11:58 a.m. – Police responded to a report of a woman entering a Main Street real estate office and acting aggressively, allegedly threatening an employee because her home is on the market. Police gave the woman a verbal “no trespass” notice.

2:13 p.m. – An abandoned 911 call came in from the Alcott School. Police confirmed it was accidental.

3:47 p.m. – A 911 hang-up call came in from Welch’s Foods on Baker Avenue extension. There was no answer on the call-back, and police eventually confirmed there were no issues at that location.

5:01 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a suspicious man panhandling in the Crosby’s Market parking lot. Police found the man, from Fitchburg, in the Starbucks lot, and he explained his wife had a court date and he was trying to get money for the train home.

11:50 p.m. – A Dover Street resident reported receiving an email notification on her cell phone from her home security system reporting a streak of light passing through a room. The woman was concerned someone may have entered her home. The responding officer checked the interior, and it checked secure.
