Police Log: The One When Some Guy Asks Strange Questions at a Funeral Home

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, Dec. 21

7:45 a.m. – Police responded to a reported alarm activation on Nashawtuc Road. Police found the patio door unsecure, but the screen door to the interior was secure.

11:05 a.m. – A passerby reported a tree down with wires across it and the roadway on Lindsay Pond Road. The Light Plant was to handle.

11:56 a.m. – A 911 caller reported a possible break-in to her home on Ledge Rock Road. The woman said she was last home at 9 a.m. and returned to find the back door open. The house checked secure, and the door was possibly blown open by the weather, the incident report said.

2:23 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a suspicious man walking into Dee Funeral Home and asking suspicious questions. The caller said the man asked unusual questions, including where the home kept dead bodies, and then suddenly placed a $20 bill on the desk before walking out with no explanation. Police checked the area, but were unable to locate the man in question.

4:15 p.m. – Police responded to a welfare check request from MCI Concord to check on a Holdenwood Road resident who volunteers at the prison and was late for her shift. Police confirmed with Emerson Hospital that the woman was admitted there and then discharged to a rehab facility.

4:44 p.m. – A Laws Brook Road resident reported having a land dispute with a Pond Street resident. She was advised of her options.

5:43 p.m. – A cell phone caller reported striking a deer with his vehicle in the area of Sudbury Road and Seven Star Lane. The animal appeared to have left the area.

8:36 p.m. – Police responded to suspicious activity in which a male motorist pulled over in the area of Lowell and Barretts Mill roads and was taking photos of a house with a long-lens camera.

10:16 p.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Concord Turnpike and Sudbury Road, A Winchester resident was summonsed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding in violation of a special regulation.
