Police Log: The One with the Exploding Mailbox

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, July 5

1:58 a.m. – A Monument Street resident reported damage to her mailbox. The responding officer reported it appeared as though fireworks were used to inflict the damage, based on the remnants found.

 8:05 a.m. – The Concord Car Wash on Westgate Park reported a dead bat found on the property.

8:59 a.m. – A Bedford Street resident reported the past theft of jewelry, saying the property was last seen the Saturday prior when she moved into the home.

11:58 a.m. – Police responded to a report of damage to a basement window at a home on Nashawtuc Road, which occurred sometime in the past month.

12:01 p.m. – Two loose dogs were reported in the area of College and Strawberry Hill roads.

2:57 p.m. – A Thoreau Street resident came into the station to report the possible theft of a check.

4:50 p.m. – Police responded to traffic complaint about a blue Prius that passed another vehicle at the stop sign at Harrington Avenue and Ministerial Drive before speeding down Ministerial. The responding officer located the vehicle by Hayward Mill Road and advised the driver of the complaint.

4:54 p.m. – Police responded to a reported alarm activation at the Ripley Administration Building on Meriam Road, which was confirmed as accidental by an employee of the Children’s Center.
