Police Log: Why Did the Chickens Obstruct the Road?

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Oct. 16

7:45 a.m. – A Spring Road resident called to complain about a barking dog in the area. The responding officer reported all was quiet at the time.

9:16 a.m. – An abandoned 911 call came in from the president's office at Emerson Hospital, which was confirmed as accidental.

9:51 a.m. – A Concord woman reported leaving her cell phone, in its pink case, on the inbound platform bench at the Concord Depot. The phone was located and brought to the police station for safekeeping.

12:18 p.m. – A 911 call came in reporting a fire alarm activation on the premises of Concord Healthcare on Old Road to Nine Acre Corner. According to the incident report, a pull station was activated by a patient.

2:10 p.m. – A Sudbury Road resident walked into the station with a dog she found near her home. Subsequently, another resident of Sudbury Road called to report her lab, which matched the found dog's description, went missing earlier in the day.

4:37 p.m. – Police responded to report of chickens in the roadway in the area of Route 2 and Sudbury Road. The responding officer reported they were in front of a residence and not a hazard.

5:52 p.m. – A cell phone caller reported a traffic complaint about a white SUV passing over the double yellow lines on Monument Street by Ball's Hill Road, where the caller had slowed to navigate around a cyclist.

5:55 p.m. – An Old Bedford road resident reported her green recycling bin has been missing since trash pickup on Oct. 11.

6:10 p.m. – Police responded to a traffic complaint reporting a silver Nissan pickup speeding down the roadway with loud exhaust. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

7:11 p.m. – A Worcester man called to report striking a deer while driving on Bypass Road near Crosby's Corner.
