SWAT Team Raids Local Home, Arrests Alleged Drug Dealer

Robert Dumas, 57, was arrested at his Ayer home and charged with dealing marijuana and Percocets.

Local police on Thursday raided the home of an alleged drug dealer.

Robert Dumas, 57, was arrested at his Ayer home and charged with dealing marijuana and Percocets. Authorities said he had a "significant" amount of cash, a gun, a stun gun, and a pair of pit bulls at his home.

The raid was conducted by the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT Team and detectives from Acton, Ayer, Groton, Boxborough, and Littleton. Authorities said Dumas sold drugs in those five towns.

"A drug dealer is off the streets, and our communities are safer for it," Ayer Police Chief William Murray said in a statement.

Authorities early Thursday executed a search warrant at Dumas' home at 93 Snake Hill Road in Ayer. It followed a lengthy investigation where undercover police officers purchased drugs from Dumas, police said.

Authorities said they knew Dumas had guns, which is why they brought in the SWAT team. At the time of the raid, an adult woman a juvenile, and three men were also inside the home, police said.

One of the men, Zechariah Guay, 23, of Shirley, was arrested on a warrant.

Authorities said the investigation involved police officials from a dozen communities.

"This would not have been possible without the amazing level of cooperation that has been built up among municipal police departments in Massachusetts," Boxborough Police Chief Warren Ryder said in a statement. "This show of teamwork has given police an unprecedented ability to damage the drug trade and other illegal acts in our communities."
