Concord Board of Health Considering Prohibition on Single Cigars, Blunt Wraps

The Concord Board of Health may make some changes to its current regulations pertaining to the sale of tobacco and nicotine delivery products, according to the most recent Town Managers report. 

The revisions the board is considering would prohibit the sale of "single cigars priced at less than $3, and packaged cigars sold in packages of less than 5 cigars. It will also prohibit the sale of blunt wraps, hollow tubes made wholly or in part from tobacco that are designed to be filled by the consumer with loose tobacco or other fillers," according to the report.

The report went on to say that the Board of Health is also considering prohibiting the use of e-cigarettes in all buildings where smoking is prohibited under the State’s Smoke-free Workplace law.

At a meeting earlier this month, board members reportedly listened to a presentation from Tobacco 21, a group of local physicians who are advocating raising the minimum age to purchase tobacco and nicotine delivery products to 21.

The Board of Health is expected to discuss the changes at their next meeting on March 18.
