Hanscom Civilian Employees to be Furloughed Due to Sequester

Employees will be off on Fridays as a result of the Federal Sequester.

The Federal Sequester will impact Hanscom Air Force base beginning in July.

Civilian employees at Hanscom Air Force Base will be on furlough on Fridays beginning July 12, the Hanscom Installation Commander announced.

“Employee furloughs are related to the automatic federal government budget reductions, known as sequestration, which began March 1,” according to the announcement.

Employees will be furloughed up to 11 days through the end of the fiscal year.

The employees impacted will be:

66th Air Base Group – Civil Engineering (except the Fire Department), Communications and Information Services (except basic network services), Information Protection, Judge Advocate, Plans and Programs, Protocol and Public Affairs.

66th Force Support Squadron - Military Personnel Section (including ID cards), Airman and Family Readiness Center, Education and Training Office, Installation Personnel Readiness, Civilian Personnel Office, Hanscom Conference Center and Manpower Office.

66th Logistics Readiness Squadron - All LRS services

66th Medical Squadron – Health and Wellness Center, Medical Contracting, Resource Management Office, Drug Demand Reduction Program, and other MDS services will be impacted.

The Hanscom Commissary will now be closed on Tuesdays as well as Mondays, according to the announcement.
