The League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle has announced its next Candidates’ Night for the candidates running for State House of Representatives for the 14th Middlesex District. The district includes all of Concord and Carlisle, precincts 1, 2 and 6 in Acton, and precincts 1 and 9 in Chelmsford.
Candidates’ Night will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Willard School Auditorium, 185 Powder Mill Road in Concord. The event is free and open to the public. For further information, email VoterService@lwvcc.org or call 978-254-1598.
Following opening statements, the candidates will answer questions from the LWV, from email submissions by voters in the district and from audience members. Nancy Carapezza of Wayland, past president of the Massachusetts League, will moderate. After the forum, audience members may talk with the candidates informally.
Voters who reside in the House of Representatives’ 14th Middlesex district may propose questions for the forum by October 15 by emailing VoterService@lwvcc.org. Please include your street and town.
The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012. The last day to register to vote or update your registration is Wednesday, Oct. 17.
The Concord-Carlisle League also invited our State Senate candidates (3rd Middlesex district) for Oct. 17. Michael Barrett, a Lexington Democrat, accepted, and Sandi Martinez, a Republican from Chelmsford, declined.
Due to League policy and federal regulations, LWVCC will not schedule a forum for a single candidate in a contested race (an “empty chair” debate). The LWV of Sudbury is holding a forum with Barrett and Martinez on October 15, 7:30 p.m., at the Goodnow Library, 21 Concord Rd., Sudbury.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, issues-oriented organization of women and men that encourages informed and active participation in government. The League does not support or oppose any candidate or political party. Visit LWV of Concord-Carlisle at www.lwvcc.org.
