Tim King Likely to Vie for Fargo's State Senate Seat

Waltham Police detective expects to join the race next week.

Waltham Police Det. Sgt. Tim King says he expects to formally announce a state senate run, after incumbent Susan Fargo announced Feb. 10 that she will not be seeking re-election.

King told Patch on Feb. 17 that he has been exploring the idea of running since Fargo's announcement.

"Since last week, when Sen. Fargo announced she was not running, I've been talking to a large number of people in the district about exploring the possibility of running," King said. "The response I've gotten has been extremely positive."

Fargo occupies the Third Middlesex District state senate seat, which represents Waltham, Bedford, Carlisle, Chelmsford, Concord, Lincoln, Weston and parts of Sudbury and Lexington.

When asked what spurred his desire to seek election, King said he'd speak to that when he joins the race.

"I am very interested in running," he said. "I expect to formally announce next week."
