USPS Raising Price of Stamps Sunday

The price of stamps is going up and we want to know what you think.

The price of stamps at your will be slightly higher beginning Jan. 22.

A U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Forever stamp will increase by one cent, from 44 to 45 cents starting Sunday, according to the U.S. government-run USA.gov. The article cites that the increase is the first on Forever stamps in two and a half years.

Postmaster General Patrick Donahue said in a statement on the USPS website that the increase is “small” and is necessary “to help address our current financial crisis.”

Forever stamps, once purchased by a consumer, are always good and lock in the initial price paid.

Do you still use stamps? Let us know what you think of the price increase in the comment section below and if it will affect you.

Hi It's me Bill Montague, The Post Office needs to do a much better job in my opinion. You go into the Walden St. Post office and most of the time when I go in there is a long line and one person behind the counter! They have (3) windows and only (1) person waiting on us. Like our time is not valuable at all. My suggestion would be to pay the person behind the counter 10% more when they are waiting on customers and regulay pay when they are in the back some where. I don't know about how you feel folks, but my Time is very valuable to me! But here you have a Government running a nation wide business! I guess that's all one needs to say. In my business rather than stand in line I pay U.P.S, $6.00 per package at least becase I cannot afford to wait in line to use the Post Office. So raising the postage will not solve their problems. They go a lot deeper than that. Cheers! Bill Montague
