Girls on the run at Hoover park featured competitive runners and walkers and family fun. Check out the gallery to see the competition.

The Girls on the Run 5K was run on June 2nd at Hoover Park.  The 5K was presented by Healthy Woman, a program put on by Affinity Medical center to teach women ways to make their lives healither and better.

The run started at 8am at the Walsh University Running track at Milazzo soccer field.  There were classes and awards for girls under 14 years of age and 12 classes for runners of more than 14 years of age.  Two waves of runners were released, separated by competitive runners and "Girls on the Run" girls, Running Buddies and walkers.

The top three finishers were Lizzie Jesko of Akron at (unofficial) 19:06, Andrea White in second and Kristen Donaldson in third, both from Ashland, Ohio.  The top girl runner under 14 came in fourth overall at just over 22 minutes.

Thanks for the photos Rob! A huge THANK YOU too, to all the guys from the Jackson and North Canton running clubs who came and volunteered, the families who cheered the girls on and the running buddies who accompanied and encouraged the girls to stay plugged into the Sparkle (positive) cord and do their best as the completed 10 weeks of lessons and training. Way to go girls! I am so proud of all of you!
