CCHS Graduation: Class of 2013, and the 'Lion King'

Music from Disney's 'The Lion King' was featured prominently in Concord-Carlisle High School's commencement ceremony, held Saturday, June 8 at CCHS.

Commencement ceremonies and motion picture scores can be fertile ground for quote and cliché. And when they come together in one place, it can be all kinds of fun.

Maybe it goes something like, oh, I don't know, this:

High school graduation is a prominent point on the 'Circle of Life.' It's a moment when adults wll sometimes call upon quotes and clichés and advise graduating seniors to "Be Prepared." And then, perhaps, some ambitious graduation speaker jokes 'I Just Can't Wait to Be King,' when really he means to lead the young men and women he's grown up with to set out confidently on their next journey in life. And maybe, just maybe, it will all culminate with some kind of 'Hakuna Matata,' go-forth-with-no-worries-and-embrace-the-endless-possibilities high note.

Or maybe the decision's made that music would be much better than words.
