Mother Nature’s Child explores nature’s powerful role in children’s health and development through the experience of toddlers, children in middle childhood and adolescents.

“In poetic words and images, and focused passion, ‘Mother Nature’s Child’ captures the essence of the challenge we face: the generational disconnect from the natural world and the great benefits that will come to our children, and ourselves, by giving the gift of nature.” — Richard Louv, author “Last Child in the Woods” and “The Nature Principle”

Apple Valley Montessori School provides authentic Montessori Education for children ages 15 months to 12 years since 1983. Our AMI trained teachers and carefully prepared classrooms provide the optimal environment to allow your child to maximize his or her potential. The school’s nature program, run by an experienced naturalist, follows the seasons and fully takes advantage of 2000 acres of surrounding habitats of meadow, vernal pool, ponds and forest. Every week, children participate in exciting outdoor adventures such as snowshoeing to identify animal tracks or exploring a vernal pool.  Children plant a garden and do the fall harvest, make maple syrup and learn primitive survival skills.
