When is the First Day of School in Concord?

Summer's still in full swing, but it's never too early to start planning for the start of the school year.

The first week of September will be the first week of the 2013-2014 school year for the Concord Public Schools and Concord-Carlisle Regional High School, according to a school calendar revised and approved last month.

Obviously it’s the shortest of short weeks for students, but it’ll be a little longer for staff.

Between days off on Monday, Sept. 2 or Thursday, Sept. 5 in observation of Labor Day and Rosh Hashana, respectively, there will be professional development days that Tuesday and Wednesday for grades K-12.

The school year starts earlier for Concord students at Minuteman High, the regional vocational school in Lexington.

According to the school calendar, new student orientation will be held on Monday, Aug. 26, with all students returning to classes on Tuesday, Aug. 27. Then they’ll get a four-day weekend, with the school closed on both Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2.
