Concord-Carlisle Golfers Teeing Off at New England Courses

Students from CCHS golf team are maintaining standout performances.

The CCHS golf team, coming off an 11-4 year and Division II North Sectional title last fall, is off to a great start this summer as members of the team are participating in tournaments around New England and beyond in preparation for the 2010 fall season.

Rising junior Andrew Wester captured his second tournament title of the early season with a 78 to win the NEPGA Callaway Junior Tour stop at Gannon in Lynn, and also qualified for the MGA Junior Amateur later this month in Foxboro.  Senior captain Tommy Bagley placed second in the event with an 82.

Junior captain Ryan Harris shot 76 to finish second in the NEPGA event at Billerica, and also qualified for the prestigious Optimist Junior Classic in Palm Beach, Florida later this summer with a 74 at Blissful Meadows.  Senior captain John Steele shot 80 to finish fourth at Billerica, and will join Wester at the MGA Junior Amateur.

Carlisle School student Christopher Shieh, younger brother of CCHS sophomore Karolyne Shieh, also won the 9-hole NEPGA event at Chelmsford with a 41. Older sister Karolyne continued her strong summer by participating in the Massachusetts Women's Open at Pleasant Valley, shooting 84-86-170 and finishing ahead of several professionals and top amateurs from around the region.
