Concord-Carlisle Teams Advance in Tournament Play

Softball, Boys' Lacrosse Teams Move On with Wins

The season will continue for the Concord-Carlisle Regional High School softball and boys' lacrosse teams. Both won Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) state tournament games over the weekend.

Also, several Patriots track and field athletes competed at the All-State Meet at Westfield State College on Saturday.

Concord-Carlisle's softball team, seeded No. 2, blew out No. 18 Woburn 11-0 in the North Division I first round on Saturday. The Patriots (20-1) are back in action at home today in the quarterfinals against No. 10 Chelmsford (14-7). The game starts at 3:30 p.m.

The boys' lacrosse team eliminated King Philip from the East Division II playoffs with a 10-4 victory on Friday. No. 2 Concord-Carlisle (16-3) moves on to face No. 7 Beverly in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at White Field.

In track action, the Patriots' girls' track team tied for 56th in the team rankings at the All-State Meet, thanks to the 4x100-meter relay team's sixth-place performance. The group of junior Dominique Blaides, sophomore Dakota Dray, senior Kathleen Dreher and freshman Maila Kodas ran the event in 49.98 seconds.

Junior Rebekah Shenton was 14th in the discus throw with a toss of 103 feet.

Concord-Carlisle didn't score any points as a team in the boys' meet, but the 4x800 relay team placed 16th in 8:14.79. The team consisted of junior David Blaides, senior Kevin Clarke, senior CJ Horvath and junior Caleb Malchik.
