Sizzlin’ Summer Sidewalk Sale Coming Back to Concord

With bargains, bands and henna tattoos, Concord’s Chamber of Commerce hopes to lure shoppers to town for the Sizzlin’ Summer Sidewalk Sale scheduled for early next month.

Dozens of businesses are on tap to participate in the Aug. 3 event, to be held across Concord Center, Thoreau Street and West Concord.

“The idea behind it is to bring people into Concord when it’s typically a slower time for the town and for the busineses,” said Stephanie Stillman, the Chamber’s executive director. “It’s for people who might be around, and for people from out of town to come in and learn a little bit more about Concord, to see what’s going on here.”

In addition to bargains, sales and snacks, the Chamber and participating businesses will offer events and activities including scavenger hunts, balloon animals, musical performances, juggling acts and wine tastings. “It really is a fun day,” said Stillman. “There’s entertainment, there are sales to look at, there are items to find. And it’s just fun.”
