Monday Essentials: A New Year Arrives, School Vacation Ends, Crosby's Corner Work and More

Here's a quick look at what you need to know for the week ahead in Concord.

1. Christmas Tree DisposalConcord's compost site will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Friday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 4 for Christmas tree collection. Click here for more info on Christmas tree disposal. 

2. Public Meetings Preview: According to the town website, here's the week's lineup of public meetings: 

  • Monday, Dec. 30: 
  • Tuesday, Dec. 31: the Trails Committee at 8 a.m. 
  • Wednesday, Jan. 1: New Year's Day 
  • Thursday, Jan. 2: the Personnel Board at 5 p.m. 
  • Friday, Jan. 3:  
3. Night Work on the Crosby's Corner ProjectAccording to the town website, night work on the Crosby's Corner project, including sawcutting pavement and installing gas main, is scheduled for Monday Dec. 30, Thursday Jan. 2 and Friday, Jan. 3, as well as next week -- from Jan. 6 through Jan. 10. During nighttime operations, there will be single lane closures in both directions between the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Get the details here

4. New Year's Day: New Year's Day is this Wednesday, Jan. 1. As a federal holiday, that means government offices, schools, banks and the like are closed. 

5. Vacation EndingConcord's public schools will return to session following Christmas/Winter break this Thursday, Jan. 2. Same for the Fenn and Nashoba Brooks schools. Middlesex School students will resume classes next Monday, Jan. 6.
