Monday Essentials: Girl Scout Sign Ups, Stone Soup and Prostate Cancer Awareness
Here's a quick look at what you need to know for the week ahead in Concord.

1. Concord/Carlisle Girl Scout Fall Sign Up: Local Girl Scout troops are accepting new members. Signups are available online here: www.hergirlscouts.org or in person at the Concord Scout House from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 or 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.
2. Public Meetings Preview: According to the town website, public meetings posted for this week include:
- Monday, Sept. 9: the Concord-Carlisle Adult & Community Ed Advisory Committee at 4:15 p.m., the Board of Selectmen at 6:30 p.m. and the Community Preservation Committee at 7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, Sept. 10: a Conservation Coffee at 7:30 a.m., the Council on Aging Board at 5:30 p.m., the Concord Public Schools and Concord-Carlisle Regional School committees at 6 p.m., the Planning Board at 7 p.m., a Fire Department Public Forum--Emergency Medical Service Strategic Plan at 7 p.m., the 2229 Main Street Oversight Committee at 7:30 p.m. and the Concord Cultural Council at 7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Sept. 11: The Youth Advisory Board at 7:30 a.m., the Tax Relief Committee at 8 a.m., the Municipal Light Board at 8 a.m., the Millbrook Tarry Task Force at 7 p.m. the West Concord Advisory Committee at 7:30 p.m. and the Comprehensive Sustainable Energy Committee at 7:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Sept. 12: the Heywood Meadow Stewardship Committee at 9 a.m, the Historical Commission at 7 and the Board of Appeals at 7:30 p.m.
4. Prostate Cancer Awareness Day: It's this Thursday, Sept. 12. Get the details here.
5. Stone Soup Dinner: The sixth annual Stone Soup Dinner will be held at Verill Farm this Sunday, Sept. 15. Arrive at 4 p.m. for drinks and apps, with dinner served at 5 p.m. Costs $45. Get more info on the Stone Soup Dinner here.
