Monday Essentials: Special Town Meeting, a 400-pound Wheel or Cheese and Holiday Sales
Here's a quick look at what you need to know for the week ahead in Concord.

1. Special Town Meeting: A special Town Meeting will convene at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, Dec. 4 and its warrant includes articles seeking to repeal the town's bottled water-banning bylaw, to purchase 6.5 acres of land off Knox Trail in Acton to use for parking school buses and other school vehicles and to purchase land on Commonwealth Avenue in West Concord to use as parking space for users of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. 2. Public Meetings Preview: According to the town website, here's the week's lineup of public meetings:
- Monday, Dec. 2: the CCHS Building Committee Design & Sustainable Subcommittee at 5 p.m., the Thoreau School Advisory Committee at 5:15 p.m., the Board of Selectmen at 6:30 p.m., the Concord and Concord-Carlisle School Committees Joint Meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the Community Preservation Committee at 7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, Dec. 3: a Conservation Coffee at 7:30 a.m., the Town Governance Study Committee at 8:15 a.m., the Comprehensive Sustainable Energy Committee at 7 p.m., the Planning Board at 7 p.m. and the Recreation Commission at 7:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Dec. 4: the Tax Relief Committee at 8:30 a.m., the Public Works Commission at 6:30 p.m., the Board of Selectmen Pre Town Meeting at 6:30 p.m., the the Planning Board at 6:30 p.m. and All Town Boards and Committees for special Town Meeting at 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Dec. 5: the Concord Housing Authority at 8 a.m., the Battle Road Scenic Byway Committee at 3 p.m., All Town Board and Committees (snow date for special Town Meeting) at 7 p.m., the Historic Districts Commission at 7 p.m., the Natural Resources Commission at 7 p.m. and the Millbrook Tarry Task Force at 7 p.m.
- Friday, Dec. 6:
- Saturday, Dec. 7: Town Meeting Coordination Meeting at 8:30 a.m.
4. Concord Art's Holiday Originals Exhibition and Sales: The Concord Art Association's holiday sale begins at 10 a.m. this Thursday, Dec. 5, offering unique gifts including jewelry, wearable art and ceramics, paintings, photography and more. The sale runs through Dec. 20. Get the details here.
5. Winter Market: The Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts will hold its Winter Market this weekend, with hours from 1 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6 and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. Get the details here.
