A Gatsby-Inspired Fall Ball, 'Kicks for Cancer' in Concord

Check out our picks for activities you won’t want to miss this weekend: 

1. Red 
Where/When: Emerson Umbrella Black Box, Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts Concord; 8 p.m., Friday, Sept 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28 and 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept 29
Why Go: Because, a winner of six Tony awards, 'Red' is a startling snapshot of a brilliant artist at the height of his fame. 
Pricing: $25

2. Kicks for Cancer 
Where/When: Concord-Carlisle High School, 500 Walden St., Concord; games at 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28
Why Go: Because 12 of the region's top high school soccer teams will take the field in honor of family members and friends who have been affected by cancer. This year's event will be held in memory of Bridget Spence, with all proceeds benefitting young women's cancer research. 
Pricing: $5 for children and $10 for adults 

3. Great Gatsby Fall Ball
Where/When: The Old Manse, 269 Monument Street, Concord; 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept 28 
Why Go: For a Gatsby-themed evening of food, drink, music and merriment at the historic Old Manse.
Pricing: $100

4. Food Drive by the Boy Scouts for the Acton Food Pantry
Where/When: Roche Brothers and Stop & Shop in Acton; 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 29
Why Go: Because the Acton Food Pantry, which feeds more than 600 people each week, is low on food. 
Pricing: Depends on what you donate
