Weekend Agenda: River and Firetruck Cleanups, a Peace and Justice Forum

Consider these events as you fill in your weekend planner.

Check out our picks for activities you won’t want to miss this weekend: 

1. Acton Family Network's Kids Tag Sale!
Where/When: Parker Damon Building - Upper Parking Lot, 11 Charter Road, Acton; 8 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 
Why Go: Because gently used items, like toys, games, baby gear, sports equipment, furniture, clothing and maternity items are on sale. And what doesn't sell will be picked up by Cradles to Crayons. 
Pricing: Entry fee of $1 per family

2. OARS Annual River Cleanup
Where/When: 23 Bradford St, Concord; 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 
Why Go: It's the 27th annual OARS cleanup of the Assabet, Concord and Sudbury Rivers, inviting locals to help haul trash, tires, bottles, car parts, bicycles found along the river to shore for more appropriate disposal.The morning of hard but rewarding work will be followed by pizza celebrations along the rivers.

3. Concord Family Network's 9th Annual Fire Truck Wash
Where/When: Thoreau Club parking lot, 272 Forest Ridge Road, West Concord; 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 
Why Go: So the kids can help wash a fire truck, meet a firefighter, and learn about fire safety, the truck and gear used by the firefighters.
Pricing: Free 

4. Al Filipov Peace and Justice Forum
Where/When: Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden Street, Concord; 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 
Why Go: The Al Filipov Peace and Justice Forum promotes peace and justice and is held each year in memory of Filipov, a Concord resident who was tragically killed Sept. 11, 2001. This year's speaker and Al Filipov Peace & Justice Award is Margaret Regan, a journalist being honored for her work reporting on the deaths of migrants along the U.S.-Mexico border.
