Weekend Agenda: 'Scrooge,' Santa, Story-telling and a Laser Show

A handful of happenings to consider before filling in your weekend planner.

The weekend has arrived, but you’ve got no idea what you’re going to do? Patch is coming to the rescue with your best bets for the done-work-outta-here time.

Check out our picks for activities you won’t want to miss this weekend: 

1. Ebenezer Scrooge: A Christmas Carol
Where/When: The Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts 40 Stow St. Concord; 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14; 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15 
Why Go: 
Well, because it's  New Life Fine Arts Musical Theater's original musical adaptation"Ebenezer Scrooge: A Christmas Carol." That's why.  
Pricing: $20 for those aged 18 and older, $17 for those 17 and under 

2. Gingerbread House Decorating Workshop for Children
Where/When: Fowler Branch Library, 1322 Main St., Concord; 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 
Why Go:
Because children age 6 years and older are invited to decorate pre-made houses made from graham crackers. 
Pricing: Free, but registration is required. And you can do that by visiting the Concord Free Public Library website at www.concordlibrary.org and going to the 
events listing. 

3. Global Santa Visit
Where/When: Barefoot Books, 89 Thoreau St, Concord; 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14
Why Go:
Santa will be stopping by Barefoot Books for a reading of The Night Before Christmas, to pose for pictures and make free holiday craft afterwards. 
Pricing: Free, with donation of one food item to the Open Table Concord Food Drive. RSVPs required. 

4. Winter Celebration Laser Show
Where/When: Parish Center for the Arts, 10 Lincoln St, Westford; 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14
Why Go: 
Prismatic Magic is bringing their popular holiday show back to Westford and inviting area families to herald in the season of peace and joy with a bright, colorful laser festival set to non-denominational holiday songs and current pop tunes. 
Pricing: $10 for adults, $8 for kids and seniors; there's a $35 family max

5. Holiday Theme Story Slam
Where/When: South Acton Congregational Church, 35 School St., Acton; 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14
Why Go: 
South Acton Congregational Church's Second Saturdays on School Street event for December is a Story Slam with a holiday theme. They'll choose about a dozen storytellers to spin short holiday yarns.
Pricing: $9 for individuals, $16 per family
